Sprouts

Hi guys!

Yummmmy!
I found the greatest website called the sprout people.  I've had a lot of fun with these sprouts and found a great recipe on the net.  These are actually mung beans.  I really love how plump they got.  The first batch (test) I let them go too long and the sprouts sprouted leaves.  I wasn't too sure if I ruined the batch but I was told it was okay to eat.  They were delicious!
But these look a lot better.

This next piece I have been using as a warm-up quilt sandwich and I've tried to make my stitches all the same, but I'm not that good at it yet.  I can't use a hoop/frame.  I've tried the rocking needle.  Nope.  I tried the stab stitch.  Nope.

So the other day I ordered two pillow tops to quilt.  Put the first one together today and away I went!

The (washout) blue design kinda makes it hard to see how my stitches are lining up.  I guess, in 100 years no one will notice. LOL

So I'll be working on this, watching football over the weekend.
Until later...

Ballet

Hi guys!

You know, it's really great when your grocery store offers a penny sale.  Buy one and get one for a penny.  I really wish I had a chest freezer.  You can't get much better than that.  So tonight I'm making another dish with pork chops.  The baked potatoes are in the oven and after a bit I'll be making pork chops with a mushroom gravy.  I am drooling all over.  LOL

So I gave up with hand quilting for a bit.
What can I tell you.  It has been very frustrating.

I just can't decide what I want to do.  Soooooo then I went back to Ballet to try to see what color combination I can come up with for the next round.  I'm not very good at selecting what goes with what.  Maybe I should take all the colors and put them in a bag and pull out one by one, go on, and don't worry about it.

Until later...

A rare day!

Hi guys.
Okay, started messing around with this pattern AGAIN.  I like how this pattern looks.  For the sides I thought I'd do a tight feather design.  I have no idea yet. LOL
I can't make up my mind.

I have no idea how this will turn out, and I may change my mind.
I'll keep going until I hate it LOL.  Then rip it out again.

Then for another story (I may have told you before):

Basic routine for me is going to bed about 10p.  The dog from hell gets three treats on his pillow and sleeps on the bed.  Okay he eats them, I fall asleep and usually wake up between 6 and 7 am.  No biggie.  DH is a night person and usually sleeps mornings, noon, etc. LOL  However if his internal clock just happens to register 11 am he is out of bed to watch his show. "JEOPARDY." This definitely smacks of old age, doesn't it?
Okay, in between all of this going on, I'm so lucky and I'm smart enough to be really quiet or I get the chance to take out the dog in the morning.
If the dog from hell licks his skin off, DH yells at me to take him out.
Wonderful.
Okay out with the dog. Lucky me.
This morning things went according to plan.  However...I observed the dog who was still on the bed that he was "eating" his biscuits that were left over from the "hotel "that puts his mints on his pillow every evening or so I thought.
I noticed the dog this morning going on with gusto.  I really wasn't sure what he was doing.
UNTIL I went to get him off the bed.

Ugh!  He was chewing on my retainer that stops me from grinding my teeth.  If you have ever had one of these made for you, it's expensive and you don''t want anything to happen to it.
I must have flung it out of my mouth when I got back into bed.
Thankfully he didn't do any damage.
That's all for today!
Until later...

It's in the pan!

Hi guys!

The other day DH bought me this square, top of stove, cast iron grill.  I've been using a very large and heavy cast iron pan for just about everything.  You can't beat it, cook it on the stove and/or shove it in the oven, use a rack or bamboo steamer.

Walmart, our local Brookshires Grocery Store and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry them and they are online as well.

My DH and I went grocery shopping the other day and he stopped, looking for another probe thermometer  where all the gadgets were and there - OMG - were 2 of these pans marked down to 10$!!!!  PERFECT
I should have bought them both, but I thought I had a real find!
This sucker is really heavy, just like my big one, and I can hardly lift it.  After using both I should  develop some muscles not to mention it's a good weapon. LOL

Anyway, I was surfing around and found a really great recipe to break it in!

Two thick pork chops with pockets  Will try a bone in next time.  I think it offers a really good flavor.
Crumbled bleu cheese
Salt, pepper
Olive oil
Butter
2 apples cored and thinly sliced.
Add special spices that you love.  I can't because my DH can't eat anything green (vegetables or herbs) because of his clotting time.

Okay, stuff pork chops with bleu cheese
(I may try stuffing them with both cheese and apples the next time)
I also thought a nice stuffing would also work with the bleu cheese and apples.
Sprinkle w/salt and pepper
I also used my trusty meat thermometer for the pork. Let them cook, doesn't take very long.
Cut up apple slices add some butter in this pan and coat them.  Let them brown a little bit.
Enjoy!
They were soooo delicious!
We decided that it really did grill on the stove top.  It was amazing. (We like to grill out!)
Of course the cast iron grill takes a little care - no soap - use a brush - wipe and wash and then coat with some olive oil.  Heat and let cool and you're done.  It gets nicely seasoned use after use.

After the great dinner I pulled out the dreaded quilt.
I pieced this one very, very long ago.
I think if I go back a bit I might have showed you the px.
Anyway I have had a hard time trying to determine what kind of quilting pattern to do.
I can't seem to settle on what I should do.
Any suggestions?

I used Solvey first, however it began to pucker and then it was very hard to get the needle through because of the gunk on the sticky side.  Forget it.

Then I thought what about just echo?  I admit I'm not a very good quilter.

Then I tried a stencil.

Another stencil.

I don't know what to do :)
Thinking,  mmmmmm
Until later...
