A Lesson Learned

Hello, dear readers !

Well, I keep working on La Pass.  This is what the back looks like when paper pieced.

I still have one more round to finish for this rosette.

Anyway, my other book arrived with all the papers and I thought I'd give it a whirl.  I'm making a sample first.  This one is called Ballet from Millefiori Quilts 2.

As I look at what others are doing or have done with both of these quilts I have learned a lesson today.
I need to take my time and enjoy the whole experience.  It's not a race, it's to create something beautiful.  Every piece that is added to the quilt is love.
So slow down and enjoy the ride.

Until later...

Busy, busy, busy

Hello, dear readers !

Well, I've been busy.
I've made my papers and am now working on several collections of 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 squares.
It's the perfect size for my hexies.

I've managed to separate each collection and getting ready to put them together.  I'm aiming for a lap quilt.  It shouldn't be too difficult, right?

I bought Kona cotton from Amazon and it's wonderful to work with.  A jelly roll.  It's 2 1/2 in width and there's a bunch.  This will be used for my centers and fill.

The other day we took Max to his groomer and my DH loves the look and I think he looks well, scalped. LOL  He's not looking at me.

And to finish off the day, I'm almost done with one of the larger rosettes for La Pass.
Needs to be pressed and put on my wall so I can see how it's looking with my other rosettes.
So far, so good.

Now, tomorrow, the mail lady will be delivering the 2nd book and more English paper piecing papers for a Kaffee Fassett fabric quilt called Ballet by Willyne Hammerstein.

Until later...

La Pass

Hello, dear readers!

I've been steadily working on my La Pass quilt.  I finally finished the 1st rosette.  The stars are not my favorite thing. LOL

I did a lot of basting.

This is good to go.

What's really funny is that I can't put it down.  Now, I'm going to choose some more fabric!  I'm trying to use up what I've got.  However, it would be nice if I could get some more prints.  Hmmmm?

Until later...

Sewing day

Hello, dear readers !
It's been fun for the week so far.  I was able to work on my hexies  (will show you that tomorrow) and today a partial shipment arrived from Keepsake.
Yummy

I really needed new fabric, right?  LOL

I finally made a decision to use the papers from paperpieces.com and will get an extra set when I run out.  It appears that when I take my time and don't rush it, the pieces come out really great!

I'm not perfect, but it's okay for me. :)

The zebra looking fabric hats are for pattern E and I'm going to need 50 for this rosette.

As I got into it, I really had a lot of fun trying to find a decent piece of fabric that I could use for this shape.  Kind of silly, but I don't care.  The wackier the better.
Well, back to the fun!
Until later...

Hexies and beyond!

Hello, dear readers!

My little shipment of 2 1/2 x 2 1/2" squares arrived the other day from www.Anniescatalog.com.
There are approximately 42 pieces in each package.  They are so darn cute!!!!  Beautiful selection!  I'll be revisiting this shop for more charm packs, you can count on that.
Great selection, customer service, and reasonable prices.

I've been working hard all day and you know when you just can't seem to get anything going?
Then BAM!  The light bulb came on.

After you give up and roll your eyes a bit and rip your hair out, it helps to get on the Net sometimes and READ directions.  DUH!!!  I have been using freezer paper for my hexies  and printing them off my pc for the papers and tried the glue thing, nope -  basting was first choice, that worked well, then stars and bars, a revelation, an item using English Paper Piecing with the FP (freezer paper) coated side up!!!  No glue, no basting!!!!
Press, and away you go!
What was I thinking?
It made a nice crisp hexie and I'm so pleased with the results.
I actually bought a new little iron from Amazon and it's wonderful to use.
It's a Dritz and has a wonderful handle you can adjust and it comes with it's own kickstand.

You know what I'm going to be doing for a while.  Football Sunday(s) - how many weeks to go?! LOL
Until later...
