Neck Warmer Knit Along

Hello, dear readers!

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Okay, my neck warmer has been giving me fits.

I had to rip out the whole star section and redo it.

What a MESS!

So, I managed to get the final star pattern knitted and am now working on making the picot row.
Phew!

I'm not sure at this point if I want to make a lining or not.  I suppose it would be a lot neater, don't you?

Now I'm thinking I could finish it off by the picot hem and then doing a 1x1 blue and white check in keeping with the design of the pattern.  It might take me a while to do this or just plain knit it.  I haven't decided.

How's everyone's knitting coming along?
I'm thinking about the next, neck warmer and what pattern I might design.
Until later...

Cut and rip

Hello, dear readers :)

You won't believe this but I went to work on my sister's honey napkin and I decided I had to cut the whole row and start the row over again.  What happened was my thread snapped as I was closing a ring.  That never happened before and Lizbeth thread is supposed to be one of the best.  Not too sure now.

Grrrrr, it broke my heart! LOL
This row is one of the fancier rows, and I screwed it up.
It happens to the best of us.

So I rewound my shuttles and did one ring and left it.

Then I was really working hard to finish my neck warmer and DISASTER!
I found a section that I had dropped a stitch as well as doing the wrong color sequence.
Eeeeeeeeek
You can see where it happened.  So now I'm  ripping the whole motif out.  It pays to pay attention to what your doing. So much for the counts....hahahahahaha

So the next px of this will be after I rip this stuff out.  What a MESS!
Until later......

Gearing up for the holidays

Hello, dear readers !
The holidays are fast upon us and we're gearing up for Santa day.
Recently we attended a reunion and I'm wearing a white sweater and the blue dog leash  LOL.
I forgot to take it off.

So, I'm still working on the neck warmer and should have some pictures to show you.

It's football today, tonight and tomorrow!  Should get something finished, right?

The mungs have sprouted

Hello, dear readers!

Well, Monday was certainly productive.  I managed to knit the next motif and checked on my mung beans.
Seems that they're ready to be cooked!
Yummmmmm

I can't believe how much a 1/4 cup makes!  Wow!

Worked on my neck warmer and got the next motif done, one more and then the picot hem.

Hope you're knitting along?

Shoots and Mooses

Hello, dear readers !
So yesterday I worked on my neck warmer.
How are you doing?

I was at the halfway point.  So today, being a football day,  I was determined to finish the moose section.

And...... I've been checking on my mung bean sprouts.  I finally found out what I was doing wrong.
They are now growing as predicted.  YAY
You can see some green in there which are the shedded hulls.
Way too cool.
Once they get going there is no stopping them....This batch was about 1/4 of mung bean seeds and they grew quite a bit, more than I thought.
But nice and tasty.  YUM
These will become a salad according to www.justonecookbook.com
She has wonderful recipes.  Hop on over to her site. :)

Well, back to the drawing board.
Until later...

Stitch Counts

Hello, dear readers.

How far did you get?  I managed to finish the first motif.

I had a little extra time this morning to get the second motif done.

In case you're wondering about stitch counts, I take the time to read the whole pattern with counts.  For the beginning of the heart, the first line would read as begin (w) 5-1-8-1-8-1-8-1-3.
                                                                                        b w b w b w b w
Make sense or clear as mud?

A stitch in time

Hello, dear readers !

Hope this day finds you well ?

Okay, I've included my pattern for the neck warmer.

By now, I'm assuming that you have done your picot hem?
Ensure that you are picking each and every purl stitch so that there is no chance of a missed stitch.  When you work the second part of the 10 row hem, it will be the 10th row that you will be incorporating into your design.  Pick up one stitch from waste yarn and one from working left needle and knit together.  Continue around.

Neat and tidy picots!

This neck warmer goes pretty fast if you do a stitch count and you never have to look at the pattern for the total duration of knitting.  Stitch count ! you say ? a really quick and easy way to knit.

Still working on my new piece.
Any questions?

Something to do over the weekend?

Hello, dear readers :)

Happy Friday!

Okay, here's what's happening.  I finally decided to end my "test piece" neck warmer.
Observation is that for now I really want a two colored arrangement.  (Especially a nice warm brown and a cream).  But that's not going to happen yet, unless I go looking in my stash (not today).
Soooooo

I've selected a creamy white and a bright blue.  All the wool  for this particular pattern is fingering weight from Knitpicks. The white is "Bare" at about 400 yards and the blue is "Pallette" is 220 yards.
NOTE:The pink is being used for waste knitting (your choice of scrap).

So with waste yarn, I measured out 3 yards then cast on 180 stitches on a circular #3 needle, place marker  and join.  Make sure your stitches don't twist.   Knit for about 4 rows in (pink) waste knitting that you will be cutting off later.

For this particular pattern we will be making an eyelet hem before we begin with the design.  Just my own opinion is that this type of treatment looks a lot crisper than a ribbing pattern.  Your choice !
Using the color of your choice knit 10 rows.  The next row are picots:  yarn over,  *k2tog, yo* to the end. (180 stitches)  Now knit another 10 rows and then we will join the two together and then begin with our pattern.
You will need extra stitch markers to be used with a 36 stitch repeat.
Questions?

It's already December???

Hello, dear readers!

Moving along with my neck warmer and I'm almost out of cream wool, so I have to come up with something. Hmmmmmmm

I think I prefer using only two colors, cream and a contrast.  This one just doesn't thrill me.  I'll see how I can figure out how I'm going to line this too.  Remember, this is only a trial run.  The actual knitting didn't take too long to do.  So it's no biggie.

I managed to fix my mung beans and they're coming along okay.  I keep picking off the green hulls.  Some of the beans have sprouted and this is the 5th day.  I'd like to get them a little fatter and longer.
Something to play with.

Now you see it (leaves)and now you don't.  Amazing.

Have a great day!
