Crochet Baby Blanket

Hello, dear readers :)
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday
weekend!

I went surfing the other day and found a pattern for a quick baby blanket.

The instructions are so simple AND a lot of fun to make.  I'm almost done with this one and plan on making another, (gifts to give).  I've used Red Heart Super Saver, of which I had 2 skeins and don't know if I'll need another skein.
If you're interested you can find this pattern at:
www.crochet.about.com
Look for "fast-easy-crochet-baby-blanket-for-beginners."
The directions used an "I" crochet hook and I substituted it for an "H" and liked how it made a nice textured stitch.

So, grab some knitting worsted and your favorite hook and go to town.
Until later...

Looming around

Hello, dear readers :)

Oh my, I got bit!
By the loom bug!!!!!

I just had to add a couple of more looms to my collection.
Hobby Lobby loves me :)

I did go back and purchase the "Tadpole" and now I know what I want to do with this.  More to come :)

I also finished the "Baby Surprise" - still have not put the dress together.  Maybe some time this week or weekend.

Just keeping busy and watching the news.
Hope you are all having a wonderful week!
Until later...

Loomey Toons

Hello, dear readers :)
I must admit, I've been playing.
I dug out my looms /  rake boards to see if I could get anything going.

So, I've been making swatches.

The top board is 28" the board under that to the left is a 10" board and finally the next one is a sock loom.  I had toyed with the idea to get the "tadpole" but these will all do the trick for what I have in mind.  The fun part is to pick a substantial weight of wool.  I really haven't come to any conclusions yet.  So I'm practicing.
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
Until later...

Doggie School

Hello, dear readers :)
Another wonderful day!

DH is learning how to take care of his dog.  Max is not really familiar with walking on grass, but he's learning.
He has his second class this week and he's way behind.  He sat in timeout for a bit!
So okay, we are learning to sit, walk and stay.  Next time how to lay down.  The dog has a mind of his own and he knows it!
It's gonna take a while for this little mutt to behave.

Still currently knitting on my second EZ BS.  Need to start the dress today.  Pictures tomorrow.
Until later...

EZ Baby Surprise

Hello, dear readers :)

Happy Monday!

Finally, the yellow baby surprise is being blocked and is still a little damp.  I'll let it rest until it's thoroughly dry.

Next will be the dress.

Until later...

Finally

Hello, dear readers :)
Beautiful day out today and for the celebration of all our moms!
Happy Mother's Day!

I was determined today not to do much (except knit).

I'm at the bind off, YAY- YAY- YAY!

The next step will be to give it a lukewarm bath and block it out and then get ready for the little dress.  Tomorrow I'll have to pick out some buttons, finish the dress, box it up and send it out. Hopefully this week.  Have to make a deadline here.
So I hope you have all had a great day!
Until later...

EZ Baby Surprise

Hello, dear readers :)

Ya know when stuff doesn't work out and you try and try?
It's been a "walk around week."

I got frustrated!

Okay, so for the sake of argument I started EZ's BS AGAIN, after many attempts and frogs, I'm at row 57 and about half way.  I'm trying to finish it TODAY!
Need some Bengay, too!  (LOL)

Hope you are all doing something wonderful.
Until later...

Ditch It - no sequins

Hello, dear readers :)

Today is the perfect day, it's gonna rain this afternoon (hopefully).  We need the rain.
I've been fussing with EZ's pattern since "all day" yesterday.  I finally came up with what color wool I wanted to use and began knitting in my sweater.  You can see how far I got!
S

I was going to town and was happy it was at a point that it would have been been done soon.

THEN!!!!!
DH looked at it and asked what the sparkly things were.  I said they were sequins.  In his wisdom he said that he didn't think the sequins (which were already incorporated in the wool) was a good idea for a baby.
Of course, he was right!  What was I thinking!

So last evening I was looking for a coordinating color of wool/cotton/blend to go with the fabric I selected.  This raspberry color, I guess, will work.  It's an oldie called Casino which is a two strand cotton.  I've gotten this far since this am.
Don't think DH would find anything wrong with it. (I hope)

So, I'll be working hard trying to get this done so I can work on the little dress to go with it.
Enjoy today :)
Until later...

Doggie School

Hello, dear readers :)
Today was a turning point for DH and me.
 Our dog went to kindergarten!
We highly anticipated that he would be in "time out" for an hour, but he was okay for his first day!
DH had misgivings, though.

We learned a few things (LOL) WE....need I say more?  We got a product to help him NOT to bark at everything.  It's called "Stop That," and guess what, it worked!  Oy! It was worth the money, just for this!

Father and son were doing fine at first!  DH was a little squeamish with the whole thing!  Poor Max.

So here we go!!!!!

I couldn't take pictures inside because I had to watch what DH and I were doing.  Next time, maybe...
Both father and son did well for the 1st class.
Can't wait to see the next class (LOL)!
AND....
I finally decided on a pattern and wool for the new granddaughter.  I'm using a fingering weight and EZ's

pattern and hope I will have enough of both wool to complete the sweater.  I may have to hit Hobby Lobby tomorrow to find the green wool.  I'm on a knitting marathon tonight to see if I have enough.  Holding my breath!
Until later...

No Jell-o Today

Hello, dear readers :)

Ach!
You know when something doesn't jell?  I knit about an inch in the
EZ pattern this morning and it just didn't cut it.  I really didn't like how it looked.

So, I drew up my own pattern using do-sew and a ruler!
This is my OWN pattern and I'll show you step-by-step on how to do it.  It's really a lot of fun and anything goes.

I apologize for the quality of the px, (I  really need a new one, it's 12 years old ) but I drew up a basic pattern which is 9" in width and various lengths.

Mostly I can make it anyway I want to with a bunch of options, a square neckline a v-neckline or round neckline, cardigan or pullover.

What I plan to do is to knit it modular/garter stitch strips, minimal sewing, as everything is attached as I go along.
I left the "ducks"  along the wayside and the wool is still on the needles just in case I change my mind, a designer senior moment :)

The colors of wool really look much better in person.  So for the rest of the day I'm going to play with it.
Will see how far I get today.  Have to knit faster, faster, faster.......
Until later....

For Michelle

Hello, dear readers :)
I don't think that my son would mind that I show off my new granddaughter.
Thank you Michelle.  This is for you :)

My son is a twin to his sister, who are younger siblings to their two older sisters.
DH and I thought they might have twins, but Sadie Lee is just absolutely perfect.
Life is amazing, isn't it?
My son is so happy and proud, and he is just bursting with love.
He's currently on "maternity leave" so he can help take care of Mom and baby.
Awwwwww.
She is precious. Can't wait to see her and hold her.
Makes you stop and think how great we really are and what we can really do.
Thank you again, Michelle.
Until later...

Baby Surprise Jacket by EZ

Hello, dear readers :)
Things have been hectic nuts around here with the dog being sick and we think he's on the mend.
(We hope!)
AND.........

Today, I'm a granny again.

Her name is Sadie Lee.  She was born today at 1:58 am. -  7 pounds and 11 ounces, 18 inches long!  She looks just like my son. So adorable.  I can't wait to hold her!
Mother, son and baby are all doing well.

So this means, everything has stopped until I get a few new projects off the table and in the mail for my new granddaughter.  I'll be doing a lot of knitting now, so DH can cook and clean  and go get groceries.
 HA! Ya, sure :)
I'm using EZ's baby surprise pattern for her sweater and coordinating it with fabric and using a sewing  pattern that I posted ages ago.

So, for this one, I'm using a duck theme for a little dress and coordinating sweater-have not found duck buttons yet.  And I thought I'd hunt up some duck stuff like a yellow duck for the tub?  If anyone has seen them (buttons/yellow duckie) around please let me know :)

Okay on to two more projects and they are
owls and ladybug dresses with matching sweaters.  I thought I'd also make a little headband to complete the outfit. (If I have time!)

I'm not sure what color wool to use for the ladybugs because the buttons are on the darker side of red.  I may have a green wool that would match, but I haven't looked at it yet.  And then the owls I thought a pretty pink or maybe pale blue, not sure yet, until I get playing with it.

So, this weekend I'll be starting off by making a copy of the original pattern.  I never cut the pre-printed pattern but use do-sew to trace the pattern size that I want to use.  So basically, if there are 4 pattern sizes, I can choose the one I want and transfer markings onto the do-sew that I want to use.  If you think it's time consuming, it's really not.  You have more flexibility with the style if you want to make a change, like add a ruffle, or change the line of the design, or whatever is your fancy.  It's also convenient to put all your new pattern pieces and mark it and put it in a baggie and save the master.

It's also going to get very cold again tonight.  I didn't want to lose all my tomatoes and all the blossoms.  I even have tomatoes already popping out.  It looks ugly but I hope I can save them.

Well, I've talked enough for the day.  Am going to make dinner, organize my stuff for tomorrow, and after dinner gonna sit and knit a bit.  I'll keep you posted on my progress.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Until later...
