Emergency Visit

Hello, dear readers :)

Nothing much to report today, I'm still working on the next round and it's very slow going.

Over the weekend, we had to rush Max to the vet.  He would be doing something like playing with his ball and then an awful howl and cry (I really can't describe it) but it was God awful.  He couldn't walk on his back leg.
We got to an Emergency Clinic after hours and he was diagnosed with  a luxating patella. So that called for a  pain killer, like a giant aspirin.  I administered the 1st 2 doses and one more to do for today.

DH got to sleep on the new bed while I slept on an air mattress so the dog would stay on the floor with me, instead of trying to get on the bed.  I'm looking for my Bengay to get out some kinks. I feel like a pretzel.

So our regular vet opened today and we made an emergent visit.  Come to find out, this is not a rare occurrence for a small breed, and it does happen.  So we got some more medication and he had his well check, with all his shots to boot, all at once.  At least that worked out well, and he's happy again, and taking a welcome snooze (he'll have to take it easy for a bit though).

As I was leaving the vets, a woman with a tiny, really cute, fuzzy dog had come in and sat down.  I made the comment that I need to start my weekend all over again.  She agreed with me!  Her poor puppy had broken his leg and she also went to the Emergency Clinic last night!  We both had the same vet at the Emergency Clinic...hmmmmm, I'll let you fill in the blanks.
LOL

Hopefully I might at least get this row half done today, no promises.  We are all pooped out.
Until later...

Redwork, Bluework

Hello, dear readers!

Over the weekend I finished up a few things and starting all over again! LOL

So you get the gist of things, I finished embroidering the "red" work quilt and starting on a "blue" one.  I love how these patterns go into my printer and print the design on this Sulky stuff.  I know I'll have to buy some more soon, I'm running out.

I still haven't tried to rinse the stuff off yet.  And, it needs a good pressing.  I also dug out some green floss to make yet a third!  It's so darn cute!  Thanks to Betty Alderman!
Enjoy the day!
Until later...

Awwwww

Hello, dear readers !

DH and I have been glued to the television.
 My, my. my.
How very sad it is.

So I did manage to work on the "Tea Party" quilt.
It's really great that I can print out my pattern and just press it to my cloth and stitch.
By the way, I'm using Kona cotton for my background.  Nice stuff.  Then I'm working with Turkey Red perle cotton size 8.

These little teapots will  go around each corner of the quilt.  I have so many ideas going around in my head with this little quilt and I'll share it with you when it's done and presented in final form!
Hope you all have a great and safe weekend.
Until later...

Catnip Tea Party Redwork

Hello, dear readers :)
I've had a ball today.  I'm still working on the flower garden quilt at a certain time of the day so when I finished how many  sections I needed for the day, I returned to my red work.
I was SO impressed!
Happily, I found a really cute pattern by Betty Alderman on her website.  You need to google her site. I found a free available pattern called, "Catnip Tea Party" which is adorable.  It measures 22 1/2 by 22 1/2, just the right size for me.
This gave me an opportunity to use a method that I have never tried, using Sulky, Sticky Fabri-Solvi.
Amazing!
You put in your embroidery design in your printer and copy it on the Solvi.  After printing, you peel off the backing and you have your design ready to press onto your fabric and then stitch!  It's wonderful!
I'm going to have to get another package of this stuff.  It's packaged in 12 - 8 1/2 x 11" sheets.  I have a lot of ideas bouncing around for a few quilts.
So, with that said, I'll be working on this in between everything else. LOL
Until later...

Diversion - It's in the Chips!

Hello, dear readers :)

Another beautiful, warm day!  It's so nice to be home.  Yay!
Over the weekend I did a little surfing around the Internet and found something that I thought I would love to try!
A Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt!

I found a really neat place to get a template.  www.sewquickly.com . You can find a 1" hexagon pattern that you can use for your design.  I printed it out using freezer paper.  Supposedly, you need 110lb card stock, but the freezer paper worked great!  These hexagons are easily cut with a rotary cutter.  So once I had a few papers to work with  I cut my fabric in a 2.5 or 2.75 inch square.

You can see the paperclip in the view, which I use to fold down the first piece of fabric to hold it in place.  I'll have to find some more scraps.  It's very addicting, like eating potato chips!

I must confess that I had to get away from the tatting - I did manage to get most of the 9th round done....only a few to go.
Until later...

Have a great weekend!

Hello, dear readers :)

Today is a beautiful day, after the cold snap.  Had to cover up our plants and veggies last night.
So far, so good.

I've been trying to finish up the redwork quilt.

I have one more square to go!  Yay!

Yesterday I received a few goodies - patterns!!!!

I fell in love with this designer and love her story.  You can hop on over to the  site of McKim Studios.  www.mckimstudios.com
I still have to finish the 9th round of my Honey Napkin Garden-ugh!
Okay, so you know what I'm going to work on this weekend.

Until later...

Busy, Busy, Busy

Hello, dear readers :)

Well, I've been hard at work this weekend! LOL
I managed to get one more redwork square done.

I have 2 and 1/2 blocks to go.  Must find my fabric.  I'm getting itchy to quilt it.  I think I know how I want to set it up.  I'm going to use the 9 embroidered squares and add sashings and a border.  I don't know if I want to hand quilt or machine quilt.

Later in the day, yesterday, I worked on my Honey Napkins.  The first is Diane's.
Lizbeth, size 20.
I'm still working on the 9th row of my Garden.
I'm not sure how I'm going to take a px of the next row because it's growing and the larger it gets the longer it takes!
For me, this is a tough row :) I'm NOT going to cut it off again!
Hope you're all having a great Monday!
Until later...

Goodies

Hello, dear readers :)

The mail lady dropped off a nice package for me today.  Yay.

It's contents came from www.birdbraindesigns.  This is a really good start for me.  I'm still waiting for another order, though with some very unusual patterns. :)
So, the thread I'm going to be using is DMC perle 8  in color 498 (turkey red).  I'm told that this particular brand will not bleed.  Of course, to mark my design is to use the brand of Micron01 (red) for tracing the picture.
A really nice hoop, Morgan No-Slip Hoop in size 5.  I may get the rest of them.
A package of needles in size 4 (crewel).
A pair of tea towels, of excellent quality!  They are by "Dunroven House."

The last is "Sulky Sticky Fabric-Solvy." This is to use instead of tracing the pattern.  I've never used this before and it looks really interesting.  You have your design and instead of tracing it on your work you pop it into your printer and it prints out an 8x11" sheet.
With that done, you peel it off and stick it to your work!  When done, wash it out!  Now, how easy is that?  I'm going to have fun with this.  I still haven't located all my red fabric yet, but when I do, I'll show you.

One of my daughters loves frogs and I did manage to find a pattern by "Aunt Martha" design 3765.  I asked her what colors she uses when she decorates for Christmas and she told me silver and gold.  So I thought I'd do the frogs with green perle cotton and maybe some other greens in the green family and use silver and gold threads in the lap quilt or as a table centerpiece.
So for the rest of the day, I'm going to play.
Hope you're enjoying the afternoon!
Until later...

A Nice, Quiet Day

Hello, dear readers :)

Today was kind of cold and dreary.  It's only in the 40's and 50's but the dampness just creeps into your bones.

We went out to eat at our now, favorite place to eat, Genghis Grill.  We have so much fun creating a meal and then having the chef cook it.  Quite a nice idea!

I am currently waiting for help on the 9th row of the Honey Napkin so in between I've started working on Diane's Honey Napkin.  I've tightened my stitches AND taking my time.  The color I am using is 603, Lizbeth size 20 from www.hhtatting.com.  I hope I will have corrected row 9 before I get to it on this one.

It's DH's idea to have it framed.!!  I don't know about that because it's going to be a big one.  I'll have to wait and see as I progress.  Tomorrow I'll show you how far I've gotten with this and with another redwork design I'm working on.  Have to dig up some fabrics soon.

I'm hoping that you are having a wonderful day and a good evening.

Until later...

Ooops!

Hello, dear readers :)

Okay, I picked up my tatting this morning, and right off the bat, I screwed it up.  I put it aside and worked on my embroidery.  I admit that I went on a little shopping spree for supplies that will arrive soon.
Shopping is so much fun, don't you think?

So for your viewing pleasure...

Hope you're having a wonderful day!
Until later...

April Fool's Day

Hello, dear readers :)
Has anyone played a prank on you, today? LOL

I've been steadily working on my Honey Napkin, along with some redwork.

These now need to be pressed and stacked, ready to be quilted.  I have not decided how I'm going to do this, but I didn't take into account that all these squares were precut so I don't really have the same muslin to work with in putting this together.  Hmmmmm
Catch you later....
