Football Sunday

Hello, dear readers :)

It has taken me two days of fussing with this particular dish towel.  Finally!!!!
I had trouble winding the warp. Broke a thread or two. But,  I've managed to get the hem done and almost ready to begin the pattern.

I'm hopeful!
The cotton thread is from "Cotton Clouds" and it's really beautiful to work with.  She offers many patterns/kits for the rigid heddle and beautiful colors too!

Until later...

Waffle Weave Towels

Hello, dear readers!

I finally finished my first set of hand towels.  I love how the pattern worked out.  They are a generous 28" long, too!

Getting ready to make the next set.

Wishing you well.
Merry Christmas

Ho, Ho, Ho

Hello, dear readers :)

Well, I have been cleaning out stuff and found so much more to do.  UGH!

Looking forward to  my  Cotton Clouds order.  They have been so very helpful.

I can't wait.

What a difference a really good thread can make - something so beautiful.  Tried to use crochet cotton, but I'm not satisfied.

Hope you are getting your Christmas organized - it's coming quick!

Sunday Blues

Hello, dear readers :)

Tisk, tisk, and woe is me......I ordered this beautiful cotton thread from Cotton Clouds and warped my loom to make a set of dishtowels.  I started off with a 1 and 1/2" hem and then started the pattern.  It was really very easy and I was merrily on my way.  Then, disaster hit.  I noticed that there was a knot in my warping.  I didn't think too much about it, UNTIL I was this far (below) into my pattern and noticed a snag.

I tried to repair it.  The strand with the knot was very loose which caused a definite snag and a loose stitch.  Eeeeeeeek!!!!!

I tried to re-wrap the loom, forget it.  My pick up stick got stuck in the warping and after some hesitation I chopped it off the loom....Eeeeeeeeeeek!

Back to the drawing board.  Oh, me :(  Guess I'll have to order some more of this cotton, as it was really wonderful to work with. What a mess.  But at least I can do the pattern, so that's okay :)

Until later...

Ah ha!

Hello, dear readers :)

Okay, so far so good!
It's working out really well.  Used sock yarn!  One skein of about 400 yards each for both the warp and weft.  Was very easy to thread.  I can't wait to get it off the loom.  Have so more ideas.

Until later...

Almost a disaster

Hello, dear readers :)

I'm happy to tell you that my granddaughter was en route from the Albany, NY area on a train bound to NYC at the time of the THE train accident.  She was not on this particular train but the one behind it.

She made it to Pratt Institute okay and was in her dorm, after they were diverted by bus.  We were so worried and so thankful at the same time.  We are saying prayers for those who were caught in the disaster.  Our hearts go out to them and their families and we share blessings with everyone.

Putting that aside, I did manage to put my new loom together.  She is so sweet and ready to go.  I don't know what to make first!  Thank you, Pam :)

I did manage to use my Cricket to make a sample.  But I wasn't satisfied with it.

So tomorrow I'll play with it again.

The actual new loom from Ashford is 28" in length which is capable of doing place mats, towels, and shawls!  I'll have a lot of thinking to do with this new loom since I've never done anything on this loom yet.  The threads are to die for.  Woo hoo.

Until later...
