The Honey Napkin

Hello, dear readers :)
A really nice day today, but was a little chilly this am.
I thought we would  get our bed today, but it's coming tomorrow.  Sleeping on air mattresses is not a good thing. LOL  When I was younger, it was okay and it didn't bother me.
So with our nicely shampooed, clean carpet, we will enjoy a nice smelling bedroom on air mattresses.  So with that in mind of what tomorrow will bring, steaks on the grill, baked potato and sweet corn for dinner.
In between everything, I managed to get the next row started.  I can see a few boo boos, but IF I make another one, it should be much better.

So, I'm off to get dinner started and make some more stitches.
Until later...

The Honey Napkin

Hello, dear readers :)

Well, it's Wednesday and we have been shopping for a bed!  We needed a new one.  DH has been waking up with a backache, and we went hunting!  I couldn't believe the prices of a bed!!!!!

So we picked one out that has an aloe vera cover which is for something, I forget.  The salesman talked about this and that and that's when I lost interest.  Too much information. Yipes!
A bed is a bed, is a bed!
So to relieve frustration and the activity of the afternoon (shampooing the bedroom rug) I worked on my Honey Napkin.
I have done this round several times and ripped, and finally got it tight enough to swing to make a circle.  I'm almost ready for the next round, and I'm having a problem with what color combination I'll use.
Oh well.  It's fun, isn't it?
Oh, tell me it's fun LOL
Until later...

Decisions, Decisions

Hello, dear readers :)

The Honey Napkin.

By the time I'm finished with this, I should become a better tatter.

I did have a thought, though.  I went through all my stash(s) hidden all over the place.  Don't tell DH!
I found that I probably wouldn't have enough of the ecru to make the whole doily, so I dug out some combinations and will call it
The Anything Goes Honey Napkin!  This is not my design and you can see the link in the previous post.

I suppose it really doesn't matter about the thread, but after thinking about it, it might become boring using just one color (did I say that?)

I'm not sure how big this will become with size 20 weight.  If I can make it through to the last round, if I changed it to a size 10, it might (just) fit my table.

I've never done a tatted medallion and thought it came out so, so cute.  Some of my stitches are not that even.  I'll have to keep working on this.  And some of my switching shuttle chains are not pleasing to me at the moment.  But, I'll worry about that later.
Hope you're having a great day!
Until later...

The Honey Napkin

Hello, dear readers!
I found the most exciting piece of tatting that I just have to do.  So, everything is on hold.

The tatting pattern is called Honey Napkin.
You can find it here.

I have started it and had a decision to make, what color!
I thought I'd go with an ecru since I could always change the tablecloth color.
I can't wait to see this row done.

By the way, this is a pattern by renulek as a "tat-along."
It also looks like it's going to take lots of thread, too.
Until later.....

Hello, dear readers!

Well, I have something interesting to show you tomorrow. Another project that I found on a blog that is so outstanding!  It's a biggie, and I've been working on it.
So get ready for tomorrow!
Until later....

Dippity Do

Hello, dear readers :)
Well, I've been tatting and ripping and tatting and ripping.  I had to stop for a while and regain momentum.
I've been surfing around, looking at different tatting patterns.  AND I really found a great one.  I have seen the finished product and it's a doozy.  I really want to make this.
So, I put out a few feelers to see if I can find the "whole" pattern.

Tomorrow I'll have pxs of my mess, that I'll just have to leave alone for a while.

Until later...

Hello, dear readers :)

It's not too bad out today, it's been very windy, but sunny.
So this morning I've been playing with Jan's cross.
The tan cross is Hakelgarn thread size 10 and the medium violet thread is Lizbeth size 20. I think my favorite size is a 20, but working in a size 10, I can see what I'm doing (somewhat - heh).
So now I'm ready to go down the other side (I'm taking my time).  Will see how it goes.
But the most important thing I learned doing this
is READING his book- over and over!!!
His most useful words, "When you are forming alternate reversed rings and chains or while shifting shuttles, you should remember that the threads must not intersect between the elements."

Until later...

Sunshine Sunday

Good morning, dear readers!
This is my finished cross.  LOLOL
I thought I would just go ahead and finish it.  There are a LOT of mistakes.
Going up the first side I forgot some picots.
Coming down the other side I ran into all kinds of trouble.
I'm going to play with it some more till I get it right!!
I really enjoyed making this though, and I loved the thread, so smooth, size 10 and two large Starlit shuttles. It didn't take much thread at all.
Joining and picot problems, straightening  :)
Ah me, back to the drawing board!
Until later...

A Nice Saturday

Hello, dear readers.
Maybe I'm pushing my luck.  So happy it seems to be working.
This is what I'm still working on and have to take a more recent photo for you.

Okay, the recent post today I am showing you Jan Stawasz's cross from his second book.  The first one I used shuttle and DMC Cebeila size 10 weight. (Pink/white)
The second one was shuttle and Omega thread size 30 which to me looks like a 10 weight.

I even took the time to write out all of his directions from his schema. Checking to ensure I've got it correct.
Later today, I'll try and show you the next cross which is shuttle and Hakelgarn size 10.

So, I'd better get busy.
Until later...

Maybe I'm Back

Hello, dear readers.
It appears to be working...
Better keep my fingers crossed.
Will have some pxs later (hopefully).

Saturday NOPE

Hello, dear readers.

Maybe I can post pxs tommorrow??????

Hello, dear readers!

Happy Friday :)
I've been working on Jan Stawasz's cross tatting pattern and have written the pattern in symbols following his schema.  It worked!  So now I'm playing with it.

The white one is Omega thread size 30 which is really a lot thicker than Lizbeth.  The two colored cross is size 10 weight.

I'm still having issues with uploading my pictures.  It's NOT WORKING, both in compose and html....

Jan Stawasz Tatted Treasures

Hello, dear readers! Still working on html power. We had a terrible storm go through here this am. It was one of the most "electrifying" storms that we experienced. I was afraid that lightning would hit a tree and come crashing down. When DH and I went for our daily ride for the dog, we found a lot of trees, twigs, brush down, all over the place. One unfortunate home owner had a hugh tree that had fallen down on his car. Thank goodness it wasn't his house. There were many people there to see the damage (with amazement) and help with the mess. The storms are still out of control with tornadoes headed east. We say a prayer for those in that area. So, today I played and was really amazed at what I accomplished. I am working with Jan Stawasz's book, "Tatted Treasures" on page 64 which is a cross bookmark. I didn't think I could ever, EVER follow a chart! I was determined! I used two Starlit shuttles, since they hold a lot of thread, but they're kind of clunkey but that's okay. I'm glad I worked with two colors so I could figure out the swing of the stitches. Here's the mess but I'll make improvements :) LOL
Until later....

I see that its' working using html! Yay!

Okay, I can see now that the tweaks like changing fonts, size, indentations, etc. are not available here with html but I can post pictures, which I think, is most important. Yay!!!! Okay, so when I was working on this doily I had many issues with the second and third round. Once I corrected the rings, it looked much better. There are still some issues when I tried to join and then cut. But, I'm going to leave it. Maybe I"ll make another one (ha)! So when I made the changes I cut the outer rings and preserved the beginning ring and started again, several times. I really wasted a bunch of thread from the first ball. I have 3 full balls and one that's almost gone. I'm not sure how far I will get this week or how many balls I'm going to go through. I might order a truck full, just to be safe. LOL Being frustrated with not being able to post pictures, I have been trying to go carefully around my next row. Coming up soon will be medallions. Tremble, tremble.
Until later.....

Hello, dear readers! I have no idea how this is going to turn out, so please bear with me. I've been working on the monster and have reached the 4th row.
I'm happy at the moment, unless this doesn't work either! Keeping my fingers crossed. Until later ....

No No No

I Give Up

Hello dear readers!
You know, when you have a blog, a great deal of the blogging is show and tell and let me tell you this is so frustrating.
So, I'll take a break (not my choice) and stay off of here until I get some picture access.

Later, gator!!!!

Hello dear readers!
I have no idea what's going on, or happening behind the scenes, but this is just stupid.
I can't even create another blog on "Blogger" by adding pictures.
Okay, so now what, I've been trying all day.
Who else can I contact?

Until, MUCH, MUCH later.....

Changed My Mind

Hello, dear readers!

Well, I tried to establish a new website through Weebly.  Forget it.
I really like the ease of Blogger for everything.
I guess I'll have to be patient and upload pictures when the link is fixed.

Until later ....

Thursday, February 7, 2013

You know, this is really quite silly.
Here you have a blog, and I'm not the only one on "Blogger" who has experienced a photo blackout, and it's frustrating, to say the least.
I think I'm going to hunt around for another blogging venue.  This is just ridiculous.

This is just NUTS

Hello, dear readers.

Not posting any pictures is making me nuts.
I'm getting soooooooooooo frustrated!!!!

As soon as it lets me upload,l I'll post...
Until THEN......

Hello, dear readers !

Today brings a light rain and NO pictures.
I hope they get it fixed!!!!

Still No Pictures

Hello, dear readers!
I have no idea about the broken link for uploading.  I guess eventually they'll fix it.
I have a few photos but I can't link them yet.
I still question why some can post pxs and some can.

Until later...

No Pxs :(

Hello, dear readers !

Nothing to show you today.  The link is still being worked on.
Guess I'll settle in and tat a bit.

Enjoy the day.

A Rainy Monday and....(no pictures)

unable to load some pictures (again).  It did work yesterday and now it's not.
Guess they're still working on it.

Hello, dear readers :)

Well I'm still working on this monster doily.  I saved the starting ring and then went back to the drawing board and re-reading the directions.  No wonder it looked wonky, I had 6 picots and should have been 7 picots.  So now it's correct and I'm ready to begin the 4th round.

I originally thought I'd use a tatting needle but I like the feel of the shuttle.  I'm still not sure that the chains are in the right direction, but I'm going to leave it that way.

Hopefully, my picture link will be fixed soon.

Until later....
or when I can upload...
Have a great day!

Thanks For The Fix!!! Doily

Hello, dear readers!

And many thanks to "Blogger" for fixing the picture link!

This is what I'm working on now.  I think it's a bit complicated, but I'll give it a whirl.

These are the directions.  Phew!  I managed to get to the 4th round and screwed up.
So I cut off the row, and in doing so, snipped a picot!!!!!
Woe is me!!!!!

So now I'm taking it back to row 2.  I've tried to figure this out by drawing a diagram.  I must have a mental block with charts.  I'm still not sure about reversing the work after a chain and a ring.
Does anyone have this pattern?
It's from Handy Hands from 1925 "Needlecraft Magazine," page 12.

Help, help :)
Isn't the rule of thumb  - do a chain, rw, do a ring, rw?

So back to the drawing board.  I'm hoping that I can get to the 4th row.  There are a series of clovers and joins that I'm not sure about.  But, I'll give it a go.  If I don't like the way it looks, I'll snip it again :)
The thread is Lizbeth size 20 color 640.

Thanks again to "Blogger"  WTG

Until later...

No Pictures

Hello, dear readers :)
I've been trying to post pictures, but the site won't let me. Hmmmmmmm

Well, maybe it will be available later?  I hope :)
So, I've been cleaning out stuff and some of it has migrated to the living room in small to large piles.

Where does it come from?
So I'll try to post some pictures later.
Until later?
