Well, I've been productive today, sort of.  I kept trying to tat the giraffe I wanted for a crazy quilt square.  OMG!  I'm going blind! Confusion....

But to have some real fun, I worked on my Halloween pillow, using my new rulers.  I had a lot of fun with them and they were really easy to use.

Until next time :)  Happy crafting!

My Helper

Well, Max decided to enter my world of crazy quilting!  He's ready and willing to select some fabric.  The "paw" approach to color, whatever he picks, I"ll use.  Sounds good to me.  I'm going to have to find some animal fabric with some giraffes, eventually for the backing if I want to do a pillow and/or ruffle, shopping at Hancock's here we come!
I'm still kind of gathering everything together, but not there yet!  I"ll still have to pick out the threads to go with this crazy quilt and I'm not sure what size it should be.  Like I said, a pillow? or I may try to make an "animal" quilt using focus on the tatted animals and keep increasing the quilt to a crib or lap size with 10" squares.  I"m not really sure, but I'm happy to report that Max said he would help me decide!

I'm trying to attempt to tat this giraffe by Jane Eborall 2003 (I have to change off from one thing to another, because my hands start stiffening up).  I've started about 3 times but I"ll get the hang of it, eventually.  Originally, I was trying to use a perle 8 and after several attempts switched to Lizbeth size 40. (I thought a smaller size would work better with limited trims).  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  But I really, really want to make this, so after I finish gathering all my stuff I"ll package it up to work on.  You can find this giraffe at www.e.n.e.btinterenet.co.uk. It's worked with 2 shuttles copyrite Jane Eborall.

But the hit of the day was when the mail lady dropped off my RULERS!  Oh, my!  They are adorable.  You get 5 cute rulers/templates, a marking pen and an adorable booklet.  You can order this through Robbie at www.embroiderysuccess-strips.com.  Tomorrow I'll show you the rulers-can't wait to try them out and show you how I'm going to use these tools to finish up my Halloween crazy quilt pillow.

Until then.....happy crafting :)

Only the Lonely

Last year, this time, I had bunches of tomatoes.  This year was really slim pickins' as only 1 tomatoe and 1 pepper have appeared and ready to be picked.  I don't know what happend.  Maybe I didn't fertilize correctly, I tried epsom salts this time and I probably should have used a regular vegetable/fruit fertilizer, live and learn.

But on the bright side of things (well, another project found) I unearthed a tam I started making perhaps last year (?) give or take either way (HA).  I can tell you that I've used Kaffe's grainey silks, shetland and wool.  I have a ton of fingering weight wools/blends and tams seem to fit the bill.  Soooo, here we go again!  Maybe when I see all the UFO's and WIP's that I have hanging around begging to be finished, I can finaly tackle the job.

Which job, I have no clue, but, until the next time, I'll see what else I can come up with!
Hope you all have a wonderful day :)

While We Wait or "WIPS"

Honestly, I am trying to clean all my areas of messes and then got interested in several (old) new things that I could be doing when the spirit moves me.  As I go about, I am finding more and more things to play with.  YIKES

For instance, a very long time ago, I invested in Linda Franz's Diamonds and Diamonds 2 books and DVD, which is a spin off of the Dear Jane quilt.  Dear Jane quilt is all squares, and Linda designed her "Love and Friendship" quilt using diamonds and it is a delight to behold and to make using heirloom thread, and "hand" piecing - the whole quilt.  It's a wonderful concept.  So for your viewing pleasure while I am waiting for my new rulers to arrive I am showing a diamond in a Halloween theme (of course, LOL) but I missed one of the ends.  Sorry :(

Thank you!

All is well....thank you!  More to post later!

Off to a Good Start

Hello, everyone!  I have been surfing, surfing, and surfing the web and it got me so tired.  I was looking for rulers/templates to be used with my crazy Halloween quilt.  Finally, I found just what I was looking for.  Hop on over to www.embroiderysuccess-strips.com and check out her website.

I managed to do a little more embroidery on my quilt, but I'm going to stop and wait for the tools.  In the meantime, I'm going to try to finish my tatting for the pillow, and then figure out how I'm going to do a ruffle.  So, this will keep me plenty busy, while I wait for my package.  This made my day!

Wednesday

Hello, to all. Today I'm going to show you my progress on my Halloween crazy quilt.  I would love to get some templates by Carole Samples, but they are currently unavailable.  Darn.

I'm rather slow at this because I'm trying to pick my stitches/beads/thread for each seam.  I embroidered three hearts for one patch but I missed the mark with one.  It's crooked, but I'll pat my hand and go on. I'm not perfect.

I'll probably try to finish this by the weekend.  See you soon!

Halloween?

Well, it's not Halloween yet, but have to keep working for out-going gifts. Soooooo, I got out my package of Halloween goodies and selected some fabrics and had a ball. This is going to be a pillow. I used a piece of unfused batting and put down the patches. Once this was done, I began collecting all the threads, charms, and notions and orga nized them into a lap container so I could pick it up where I left off.
I don't know what happened but I like the other version of blogger. This version made the px come out in reverse. No matter! I'm going to make an edging for the pillow using Lizbeth number 20 tatting cotton. This will be my portable work.
Have a great Sunday, catch you later.

It's a wrap!

Good morning, crafters! It's going to be hot outside today. With the anticipation of Christmas coming and some cold weather, I started early with my Christmas gifts, go figure.
I found a wonderful website www.eveningstardesigns.com and purchased her "Santas Ornaments Kit." It makes three wonderful ornaments. It comes with all the fabric, backing and batting, and trims. I've finished all the embroidery that I wanted to do. I tried to keep it very simple.
And now I'm going to work on some tatted lace to go around the oval. I won't have to turn any corners (thank goodness) so it shouldn't be a problem.
Hope you all have a wonderful day today. Till next time
