Well. Here it is! I finally redid the row. I did go back and revisit the round and decided to do the 10 ds - 2ds and join. AND I managed to turn it around so it's going the right way. It took a little while to figure it out. Anyway, I'm happily going to finish this round and complete the 6th. In the mail today I received some goodies. Barbara Foster of was kind enough to select a medium pink (rose). You can see one of the colors is a purple (at least to me) but Ms. Foster selected the most beautiful shade and along with the pink will make a beautiful butterfly. I thought I might incorporate some yellow, somewhere, but I'm not going to worry about it "Big Grin" sooooooo I really would like to start this pattern all over again, with my new colors...I can't wait!
I just wanted to say that I ordered the "Designer Greeting Cards" which really look like fun to do for the holidays and I forgot to show the new book by Barbara Foster, "Festive," wonderful patterns! These look like fun to do. Well, I'm going back to finish up the 5th round and who knows I might start on the new butterfly doily. Will keep you posted. Happy tatting.

I am a

What Flower
Are You?

Last evening my DH decided to cook his favorite chicken on the grill. This is the only way I enjoy my chicken with the exception of "Kentucky Fried" and he can really cook it! He prepared the chicken with a good washing and then patting dry. After this he uses an Italian dressing and adds garlic salt and marinates them in a ziplock bag. It sits for a while in the sack sucking up the juices.
And I learned something yesterday. If you want to bake medium sized baking potatoes, you should microwave two potatoes (poke a knife in them to release the steam) for 4 minutes. They will be hot! Prepare your aluminum foil and roll each tater in olive oil and sprinkle with a little Kosher salt and seal well.
You can now put the taters on the grill and add your seasoned chicken breasts (a little skin to help to make it crisper, but that's your choice - we like it juicy inside.) If you use skinless breasts, I place a piece of uncooked bacon around the breast and use a toothpick to hold it! Let them go for approximately 30 minutes. Check for doneness and serve. Delicious! YUMMMMMMMMMMM
Max is waiting anxiously for his taste of a chicken breast! He loves it! I've ripped my tatting out and have restarted the 5th row AGAIN! Tomorrow will have an update. (It's working this time) - yeah!! Till tomorrow!

Oh, noooooooooooooo!
It was too good to be true!  The stitches were really improving and I was moving right along, round 6 was finished and I started on the 7th round and THEN I noticed......The round was UPSIDE DOWN!
DUH!  You can see my "points" on the previous picture.  Ohhhhhh, nooooooo!
Well, I had a good laugh over it, and took the scissors and snipped, snipped, snipped!

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

It's Saturday Night LIVE!

And is!  I'm finally off the butterfly round and now working on the 6th round.  I have made a bunch of mistakes along the way, but I am going to finish it.  When I tried to finish the last butterfly I didn't connect it where it should have been, and I left it.  At the 6th round, I debated to leave in the two ds and a join at the base.  I didn't like it so I am just doing 12 ds join and 12 ds and then 5 - 5.  It's not perfect, but it's helping me to identify problems.  I keep getting my chains confused with the turning.  But at least I can see what I'm doing wrong.  I have also tried to firm up and tighten my stitches which really has helped.  I'm still a bit weak when I have to do the rings though.  I'm working on that.  That's all for tonight!  We will see what tomorrow brings.  Have a great weekend!

No pictures tonight!  Had to go to the dentist today and had another crown put on.  This is the third.
This one is not gold, but next to the gold is a porcelain crown that I cracked, actually two teeth with my friends homemade peanut brittle.  It was delicious....chomp chomp chomp!  (Two teeth cracked)

THEN of all things, I had to have my night time appliance (because I grind my teeth at night) redone because the crowns didn't match the bite plate.  Soooo many dollars spent, both crowns are on, another mold made today for the retainer, and another appointment in two weeks....when will this stop!!!!  I really do not like to go to the dentist, being my grandfather was one, a graduate from Colgate, ah me, I remember the foot pushing the mechanism to run the drill....AND as kids we PLAYED with the teeth ready to be made into dentures!!!  Oy! Hopefully, this will drill down (lol) and go away :)

Tomorrow I'll show you what was delivered today.  It's gonna be fun :)

Till next time...........

The postman always rings twice?

You bet he does!

This piece, I had to show you, how beautiful it is! Ahhhh. Her colors are wonderful. Her tatting is wonderful!   I'm sorry, but I don't remember the gal's name who sent this to me, but she's on  If you are a tatter, you really should subscribe to this site.  It's AMAZING!  The TATTERS are amazing!

This is the Burda butterfly doily that I am trying to do and she's working it in size 80 thread! OMG! Size 80?  Yikes!  I'm having trouble with size 10! (I don't want to get into trouble with copyrights, so if I am committing a crime here, someone tell me and I'll take it down!)

But the postman is coming! TWICE! (I'm so excited!)

I placed, yet ANOTHER order today, the other was over the weekend, and I must admit the company and the wonderful, Ms. Barbara Foster, is the most impressive company that I have EVER, EVER, done business with!  Your order is delivered almost instantly.  Unreal! I have to keep ordering, this is my FIX, and I'm trying to experience EVERYTHING!  It's kind of an inspiration to me, especially the fast delivery, it makes my head spin because I have to keep re-ordering, and re-ordering to feed my habit!

Don't you just love packages in the mail?  I had to bribe the mail lady every week or so ( a dozen doughnuts, homemade chocolate cream pie, Starbucks coffee, cookies, mmmmmmm), just so I get my posts! She'll get a tatted ornament again for the holidays.

Until next time, I'm waiting for the postman, LOL!
Happy Tatting :)

Good morning to all!  I have one more butterfly to finish the round with the size 10 and had to leave it alone, soooo I started another one with a size 20 thread and I'm going to use a light mocha brown 690, antique violet medium 640, and dark olive 678, and a light yellow 615 and dusty rose 621 from Lizbeth thread.  .Looking at the larger doily I don't seem to get my stitches crisp enough to suit me. Hmmmmmmm

But I'll keep plugging along and see how this works out !

The Butterfly Round

Well, hello tatters and crafters.  I am slowly making my way with the butterfly round.  I have some twists and turns that I messed up, but it's okay!

Before I did anything I tried to decipher the pattern and wrote it in tatting language that I could understand.  It was rather complicated to me, but I think I've got it and it took a while.

The thread is from Size 10 Lizbeth color light mocha brown, however I ordered a bunch more of size 10 but in the color Spring Garden.  I have a "thing" for this color.  I'd like to make another one (must be crazy)!

Then after this is all said and done, for my next adventure I would like to begin with a small doily in size 10, then 20, and so forth.  I'm partial to the 10 and 20, it looks a bit daunting with a size 80!  Will be an experience, ya think?

Well folks, back to the drawing board.  Have a great weekend.

Butterfly - Baby

Oh boy,  I think I got it....the little engine that could?  It's not perfect but I'll take it. By the time I finish with this row, I should really, really be good at it. LOL

I have to fix the chain 3's because they need to be repositioned.but that's as good as it gets.

Enjoy the day
 Until next time :)

Leftovers and Butterflies

First, the bread and then the dip.

The leftovers!  Boy was that good.  Julia Child knew what she was doing!

The next time I'll try browning it better.

Just finished round 3 and snapped a picture so I can see what I've done.  I should concentrate on making my picots more uniform, but it works for me.  Maybe I'll make it again, ya think?  And now on to  make the butterflies.....YIPES!
Until later :)

Saturday, February 4, 2012

Well, in between cooking and taking a rest, I managed to get my swatch made for a scarf and I think it turned out great.  The pattern I"m using is called crest o'the wave and I cast on 91 stitches placed markers where the repeats are to be and off I go.  I think the wool is from Yarn Market, but I'm really not sure, but it's all wool, lace weight and hand dyed.  It's really a two row lace and garter stitch.

Well, enough playing with this, have to check on the rosemary bread - it smells heavenly!

Till next time.....

Superbowl Sunday

Well, crafters, Sunday is another Superbowl coming up!

On the menu for that day it will be a variation of dishes:  We're having a spinach dip, served inside a delicious homemade bread in the round, Julia Child's recipe for beef bourguignon and the perfect fried chicken.  I need to have a few more snacks and finish with a yummy dessert.

I'll start putting everything together on Saturday, so expect some pixs along with a (hopefully, completed 3rd round of the butterfly doily).  If I manage to get a few more split chains done, I'll show you the progress.

Till then...(I won't say bonn appetite, yet) LOL

Just taking my time!

Okay, tatters here's round three!  If you missed this one before I'm working from a Lacis Publication, "Tatting from Burda," translation from German by Etha Schuette, 2002.  The pattern is on pages 41-42, however there is another pattern which is the same as this in the book, page 34, using the same diagram, but there are little quirks with each I'm having to really look at them all, trying to figure it out!  The 4th round involves the butterflies.  I have my fingers crossed.  I am using Lizbeth thread size 10, color light mocha brown.  Maybe this weekend I can start on the 4th round.  I'm imaging that it will go rather slowly.
Till next time.
